Yeah the Doctor shouldn't really take Yas back, but it's totally in keeping with what they did when they took Rose back in 'Father's Day'. The Doctor is easily swayed by sentiment..

I love this one. The music was AMAZING, and so was the cinematography. The idea that the demons were really the people, rather than the aliens, was particularly poignant to me... it was a definite and apt commentary on the divisiveness that's happening today in more and more countries. Humanity being the most dangerous of things. Also, I cried for basically everything you cried for. The emotion in this was so well done.

Carroll

Man, this episode is beautifully sad

WhoviVortex

I agree that this is the best of the season so far. The fact that it is so much better than the two that preceded it makes it shine that much more. Where this particular run does well, is the historical stories comparatively to the creating new monsters of the week by this point in the series. This one pips ahead of Rosa in my opinion. Although it can be successfully argued that the Thijarians aren't at all essential in telling the story. But I do like how the iconography of Demonds is used for characters whom are undertaking redemption and have proceeded to transform into symbolic angels. That's very sci-fi and in turn quite Doctor Who.

Daryl

Beautiful episode, looks and sounds amazing and great emotional episode about a subject I didn't know that much about. Really liked it, possibly best of this series for me.

Mr K

Knew you'd like this one. There's a lot of beauty about it but it's often overlooked in favour of Rosa for some reason.

I feel like some of this season they were just like "we need an alien threat" but i just felt like these aliens were just like testimony in the christmas special it just seemed kinda lazy to me I dont see why they couldnt have found a better way of telling the story there doesnt always have to be a (seemingly) alien threat. Also time travel in this season apparently doesnt impact the characters present day memories? Of Grandma is very good at keeping shit on the DL lol. While I did kind of enjoy the episode and it was a history lesson for someonee who didn't know the history. Just felt these "Demons" distracted from the story. This season almost feels like Quantum leap to me except Quantum leap things just "went wrong" with history and needs to be fixed while in Who is aliens or a racist from the future is there messing with things, not that older episodes like Fires of Pompeii didnt do the same

Magus

i love Graham's line " do you need a singer.. i know all the classics" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-PR68s-upg

This was released on Remembrance Sunday in the uk (because of the new Sunday timeslot) it's not officially a special or anything but the themes of remembering brave people who died were very intentional. I loved this episode, not my favourite of the season, that's to come.

Amelia Liggins

Ta very much

Amelia Liggins

Great episode, showed good stuff from Jodie and Yas, beautifully written, great strings throughout the episode, I believe there were guest musicians who understood Indian music helping Segun on this episode

Sufyaan Kazi

Really enjoyed this one, beautifully shot and scored - loved the educational aspect of it and how they managed to personalise history by making it about one family’s story. Unlike in Rosa, the aliens didn’t feel like an afterthought

Chris

Definitely one of the better episodes for this series. I think the emotions hit well for the most part. It showcases its situation almost as good as Rosa did. The next episode is one of my favourites.

JY

I thought it was a pretty cohesive episode, and I had some tears again this time. I love the visuals and presenting the facts of what happened with a backstory, which is a favorite thing of mine. One of my favorite stories involves what would happen to two families during the end of the world, because it humanizes the facts. That's my personal favorite storytelling method. And I still think Chibnall excels with presenting realism more than fantasy/sci fi, so this one was right in line with his strength.

Just to echo the others, this is one of my favorites this season. I agree that they delt with this subject matter with a good amount of respect. Also, I enjoy all the episodes from this point on a great deal.

Patrick McMahon

One of my favorite episodes of the season; and the music was great too (did you notice the final credits were a different arrangement of the Doctor Who theme with the vocals?) I like this season the titles of some of the episodes have dual meanings or ones that you have to think about. Like the first episode “The Woman Who Fell to Earth” we assume to be the Doctor falling from the TARDIS; but can really mean Grace falling from the tower; or The Demons here being the aliens, but are actually just the people splitting others apart.

Michael T

Yeah this is one of my favourite episodes of the season, everything about it is just so beautifully done. (Also, Yaz gets some development, which I am a big fan of.) So glad you enjoyed it!
