You don't have to defend yourself, when you can teleport, turn invisible, revive, and as Daniel said, are PSYCHIC, basically.

2020-02-29 13:07:55 +0000 UTCThe movie highlights Daniel's importance to the show, so the movie IMO is definitely worth it. You don't really get a feel how important Daniels is at the beginning of season 1. But if you've seen the movie, then you understand.

2020-02-23 17:05:40 +0000 UTCI think the backstory is very important, and the fact he thinks that Jack hates Daniel, isn't quite true by this point, or by the end of the movie, so watching the movie will shine a new light on their relationship. Plus the backstory is worth it, it shows how they found the staragate, who and how they got it working (why Daniel is so important to the show) and who the alien was they encountered when they opened it. It's very important.

2020-02-23 04:14:08 +0000 UTCI definitely think you should watch the movie because the relationship between Jack and Daniel isn't quite what it seems or what you have gathered, it's worth watching also so you can see how they found the Stargate, how they got it to work, and who they encountered when they opened it. The backstory to the show is important, IMO.

2020-02-23 04:12:25 +0000 UTCI've always loved this episode, and I think the Nox are a fascinating species. "The very young do not always do as they are told" is a quote that kind of encapsulates where the SGC and humans as a species are in the Stargate 'verse. You'll start to see that sort of theme coming up a lot in the coming seasons. Really enjoyed this reaction - I can't wait for the next one!

2020-02-22 23:12:18 +0000 UTCI like this episode for it's obvious lesson of don't judge a book by its cover. This is another one that I saw out of sequence as I did with quite a few from the first few seasons of SG1. I would rank this one somewhere in the middle for episodes from the first season. Edit: As others have mentioned the original movie. I agree you should watch it. An interesting choice to watch it after series 1. I think that will add an additional perspective. Regardless of a few plot and characters inconsistencies. Like others have said it will help to flesh out a lot of the foundations of the story that the small references in the episodes will not do.

2020-02-22 22:42:47 +0000 UTCIt’s only episode 8 and already you’re doing Teal’c impressions in the mirror? That’s a good sign! Speaking of so many forest planets, one of the curious facts about the Stargate is that it takes SG-1 to worlds that look suspiciously like British Columbia. I think reacting to the Stargate movie after season 1 as a kind of special event is a good move. While there are some minor inconsistencies between the movie and the series, the movie is epic and worth seeing for its own sake. The Nox remind me of a number of deceptively advanced alien beings routinely encountered in classic Star Trek.
