I just realized this is basically Joss' first run at making Age of Ultron. Now I want to hear Moloch overdubbed by Spader.

2020-05-28 11:27:31 +0000 UTCI have a love hate relationship with this episode. I loved it for the comedy moments when I first watched it (when it aired), and now when I rewatch it, I still laugh but I cringe in regards to the old technology stuff and all the awkward moments. But you have put it in a very interesting way: a guilty pleasure episode. Oh and I have a question for you. I watch your reactions of Doctor Who as well, is there a reason why you skip Buffy’s intro but not Who’s intro? Btvs has a different intro every season and it’s a cool intro in my personal opinion and I would love a 100 times more if you did not skip the into ❤️.

2020-03-10 21:59:52 +0000 UTCO good lord... Ok, Fail Whale. This is my favorite show ever... but I DESPISE this episode. I'm hoping you can get me through it this time.

2020-03-10 21:38:47 +0000 UTCThis was oddly the first episode of Buffy I ever saw. I caught it on some late night reruns and the characters intrigued me. I remember loving willow. A few weeks later I caught some episodes from season 6 (the current season at the time) during a “thanksgiving-slay marathon” if anyone remembers those. I was totally hooked at that point. While this episode is not a favorite for me it brings me happy good vibes when I watch it.

2020-02-22 02:50:24 +0000 UTCThis episode can't be taken too seriously. It has to be enjoyed through a comedic/nostalgic lens. Once you take that step, there are actual things that really work for me. I love the focus on Willow's feelings of isolation and inferiority. I liked that they really worked to explore her mindset. I liked the concept of a techno-mage though I think the execution could've been better. It's also really interesting thinking of this episode in the context of computer use at the time it aired. Home/personal computers were just starting to be a thing. Most homes only had one family computer. The internet was really picking up steam and easily connecting people all over the world for the first time. Which was a particular theme of this episode, both as a negative (Moloch's web-based cult) and a positive (Ms. Calendar's web-based coven). Totally a throwaway moment but I loved the kid with the word processor/electronic typewriter on the stairs instead of a more advanced laptop. My brother had one just like that and I loved playing with it and typing nonsense on it cuz you could print immediately. IDK...say what you will about the quality of the story but every time I see this episode, it makes me nostalgic. It's so quaint.

2020-02-19 03:50:04 +0000 UTCI couldn’t be sure what episode 8 was about, but I was afraid of what it might be. I went straight to the comments to find out. When I saw your post, I knew at once what Failwhale was in for. Okay, you know, it’s not that bad. We meet Miss Calendar for one thing!

2020-02-19 03:20:41 +0000 UTCThe nice thing is even with these goofy episodes, you still have a good time watching and I think the main cast is so charming and interesting that it's easy to just enjoy them doing their thing even when it's a bit ridiculous.

2020-02-19 02:22:14 +0000 UTCThat was actually more fun than I remembered. I especially love the "Good for him" line about the hiring a hitman. Though they missed a trick not having "Malcolm" say " I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that." 😂
