I feel like we just experienced the moment Failwhale fell in love with Willow in real time And yea, it's a noticeable difference from season 1 to this episode... not just aesthetically, but the show takes itself a little more seriously. The cheese is considerably lessened for this episode. The drama is more believable. It feels more cohesive. But it still maintains the random quips and silly moments. To me, this is the best episode of the show up until this point.

2020-04-15 20:30:11 +0000 UTCSarah auditioned for the part of Cordelia and this episode proves she would have been great. Good reaction. You seem to get this show.

2020-03-25 22:19:08 +0000 UTCYay! Great reaction; I could see you falling in love with the show. It just gets so much better throughout the show from here on. Of course there are some less loved episodes, but overall season 2 is really where the show takes off.

2020-03-25 20:43:58 +0000 UTCSo happy you've made it to Season 2. As a massive Buffy fan, I appreciate Season 1 but I can see the quality is a drop when compared to what you've got coming up. The reason for the big shift in tones is simple - Season 1 was meant to be a one of season and ordered by the network as a show to fill the gap of one of their flagship shows at the time that took a mid-season hiatus hence why it only has 12 episodes . Buffy performed so much better than the network ever thought, it was praised for being different to what had come before and the writing by Joss... it gained a cult following and so the network ordered a full season, upped the budget and gave Joss the freedom to fully create the show he wanted. From here on out the show goes from strength to strength (obviously some episodes will be weaker than others) and its now you'll start to see why this show is often classed as not only one of the most influential TV shows of all time but also one of the best shows period.

2020-03-25 20:42:18 +0000 UTCI enjoyed that the trauma from the last season wasn't just forgotten or glossed over, they needed an episode to resolve it and re-configure. It's good writing. Season 2 really gets goin, it's gonna get good. I also agree that you should watch the non-remastered, original, version, original is much better.

2020-03-25 15:08:09 +0000 UTCYesss! So glad you arrived on season 2 and so glad you enjoyed it! I've always loved this ep and the way they deal with Buffy's trauma. As you can see in this ep, all the best aspects of season 1 get elevated and all the worst aspects start to diminish. There's still some weak eps, but they become fewer and farther between.

2020-03-25 07:41:56 +0000 UTCSeason 2. π There are so many episodes I can't wait for you to get to. You're in for a treat. π I love that they didn't just gloss over her dying and the trauma from that. Great start to the season.
