Easily one of my faves from S1. RDA has said often enough that he's not a very serious actor, and usually he's not, but on occasion he can pull off a fantastic dramatic performance, and I think he really sold O'Neill's determination to save his friend. Chris Judge likewise did an amazing job this episode. Teal'c's character arc over the series really stands out in a show that focuses so much on characters to begin with. Teal'c shifts from someone who is defined by scowling and looking scary to laying down a lot of the show's most profound wisdom. In the direct to DVD movie The Ark of Truth Teal'c has a conversation with a man who reminded him of himself before he turned against the goa'uld and has this amazing monologue about the nature of guilt and forgiveness and redemption that really echoes back to this episode.

2020-04-12 23:19:03 +0000 UTCYay right on time! For me it's late Sunday evening, so not early by my clock. 😁 I knew you'd like this one. Probably in my top three for this series and is one of my favourites overall. Christopher Judge hits us with a performance that perhaps we might not have seen coming. He's had a few moments between mean face raised eyebrow. But this was, for me that is, when they finally gave him a lot more development and something more substantial to sink his acting chops into. Next one it another fav. There's an outtake for it that's worth checking out after you've seen it. Plus a quip that I can't imagine was in the script that made it in. 🤐 Oh I'd be fine with two eps again next week. 🤞😉😁
