Deepspace: The Reunion Of The Captains (Ea)(Com)

A commission for last_of_workers

Eleven captains landed on the space station above Jirlopos-4, each one hoping to descend to the surface and make their way to the facility built inside it. Each one had one thing in mind: get to the center and claim the place as their own, taking claim of all its valuables.

However, their troubles with anomalies and the chaos surrounding Zeta-13 didn’t end in the space around it. Before they could finish taking the orbital elevator down, it vanished, sending all the captains plummeting towards the ground.

Each captain was saved by their ship before hitting the ground, but before they could get to safety, something very crazy happened. An anomaly caused each captain to be merged with their ship, turned into a female, and then teleported randomly over the surface of Jirlopos-4.

Each captain had a different reaction to discovering their changes, with some not liking it and some not minding it, but while they disagreed on that front, there was one thing each captain agreed on. That being that the changes to their body weren’t going to stop them from claiming Zeta-13.

So each captain set off on foot, ready to use their new powers to their advantage to get their prize. Each one traveled the surface until they discovered an entrance into the Zeta-13 facility they could use.

They would enter hopeful to arrive at the center quickly, only to find themselves met with more anomalies. Each one encounters anomalies that put both their bodies and minds to the test, and sometimes anomalies that were just annoying or tiring.

It didn’t take long for the seasoned captains to realize Zeta-13 was far more dangerous than they expected, and as time went on, their goal became less about claiming the facility for themselves and more about surviving and finding a way out of this mess.

That's why when the captains eventually ran into each other, they would agree to pair up and work together, ensuring each of them stood a better chance at surviving the anomalies being thrown at them.

So almost every captain found themselves part of a duo, using their powers together in order to continue deeper within the facility and combat the anomalies in all their forms. There was one captain, however, who found herself alone.

Despite that she made the best of her situation and is perhaps the reason any of the captains have a chance of surviving and making it to the center. She discovered a secret room, which allowed her to access almost everything in the outer layer of Zeta-13.

Using that she was able to track the other captains, at least those who popped up on the system. Using the system, she aided the other captains, opening doors and sealing off deadly anomalies that could have killed them.

She helped each one get to their destination and waited for them to complete what it seemed they were there to do; once that happened, she convinced them all to meet up and work together as one big team.

She then created safe routes for each of the pairs that led to a safe room right outside the entrance to the inner layer of Zeta-13, which was where the center was located. Once they had that, she wished them luck and started to travel there on her own.

The first pair to arrive was Zaxary and Vycter, followed by Briyelle and Gayge seconds later. Those four greeted each other, reintroducing themselves since none of them really knew what the other captains looked like now.

Briyelle and Gayge were amazed to find Vycter was actually fully mechanical, despite looking more human than the rest of them. They were even more amazed when she showed them how she could just pop her limbs off.

The rest of them then started sharing their powers, revealing the cool, unique things they could do as well. After some time talking, Deron and Nyco came walking in; they greeted the group and introduced themselves.

Then, like before, they continued talking about their powers, sharing what abilities they had and discussing ways to use their powers together should the need arise. The next pair to show up was Elber and Orin, who concerned the whole group as they walked in.

That was because Elber was handing Orin her arm, and Orin was seemingly consuming it. The pair quickly explained their powers and what they were doing, assuring the rest of the group that there was nothing to worry about, that Elber would be fine.

The talks continued, with more of the captains demonstrating what they could do. There were only three captains left, so the group wasn't surprised when two more came walking in; however, they were surprised to see Johnath, who was the only captain not even a tiny part mechanical.

They all surrounded her and were asking so many questions that they caused Titan Green to get nervous, and had she been able, she would have retreated into her shell, but Johnath was there with her and was able to comfort her, all while answering the questions of the other captains.

The group, nearly complete, were all enjoying their first moment of peace since arriving here, all while waiting for the one responsible for giving them all a safe passage to get here. Cayne arrived about a half hour after Johnath and Maxtom.

Some of the captains cheered when she arrived, and almost all of them thanked her for helping them out. Cayne couldn’t help but smile, seeing each of them there safe and sound. She truly worried about them and was glad they made it.

She was also glad they were so willing to work together, as it gave them all the best chance of survival. After telling the group about her powers and then hearing about theirs, Cayne sat down and the more important discussions began.

Everyone started to reveal the information about the facility and other interesting things that they had discovered. Everything about the people who used to live here, about some of the smaller things they were doing here, and even the ship parts that were still usable.

The most important thing of discussion was the column. Several of the captains had information on it, and they all had ideas for the column, but upon sharing and learning more about the column, they were unsure about it.

It was easily the most dangerous thing here, and messing with it could do far worse than just killing them. It could destroy reality or even change it completely; it could really do anything, just like the anomalies connected to it, the only difference is it would affect everything in existence.

So messing with it was a bad idea, but at the same time, it was very unlucky they’d be able to escape since none of them had a ship, and they only had the massive warp engine that was discovered by one of the captains.

That left them quite stuck, at least until Zaxary mentioned she could hook the warp engine up to Zeta-13 and potentially warp Jirlopos-4 out of this sector of space; of course, no matter where they warped, the column would still be a problem.

They can’t teleport with it on, as the anomalies will come with them, and turning it off will cause the anomalies to go out of control and start to gather at the center of Zeta-13, which is where they’d be. So they’d have to turn the column off at the same time they warp.

If they do that, they could leave the column and the anomalies behind, saving themselves and all the resources on Zeta-13, which they could then share equally since they’re now a team, and perhaps, if it all works out, they can do something with Zeta-13 and Jirlopos-4 instead of just leaving it behind.

The group got silent for a moment as they thought about it, then after a few moments they voted on doing that, and all of them agreed to do it, which meant they had a tough mission ahead of them. They had to go retrieve the giant warp engine and bring it to the center.

The center, which likely had more anomalies and probably wouldn’t take too kindly to them being there trying to put an end to its chaos once and for all, but this was their only chance, their only hope. So they’d get the warp engine and bring it through the large steel doors separating the inner and outer layers.

Here it is. Now both we and the captains see the goal and let's get to it... But this path is incredibly dangerous for an ordinary person; choosing this path would most likely mean death... But our captains are not ordinary people and it's not that they merged with their kings, it's that they decided to go into Deep space, and that's what makes them special - their determination, their awareness that there is no other way and their willingness to trust essentially a stranger, but at the same time their willingness to risk their necks to save a stranger and become not just a comrade but a true friend with them! ... Oh, I don't want to spoil such a good atmosphere, but I have to - the thing is, I have to answer the question that someone might have (I personally would have had it if the story weren't written to my order) "and then they just can't find a safe place and stay there and wait for someone else to find Zeta-13" - the answer is simple: the thing is that Zeta-13 is a deadly cell and hoping that someone will quickly find them is futile. Their chances of dying simply from some accident are incredibly high, and even if this doesn't happen, they might run out of food, and even if there are no problems with this, they are guaranteed to suffer mental trauma... The limitations of the company, in a limited area, in constant danger and in an information vacuum... For a modern person, this is too much... Of course, they are not ordinary people and it is possible to hold out longer, but the outcome is still the same, so it is better not to run from the inevitable.
