Blog: The next step

Hiya! Just my luck--the new hard drive I got failed within a week. I'm pretty sure it was either a factory defect or it got damaged in shipping, because the way it was packaged up was pretty awful. I'm going to return it, but in the meantime I have to deal with retrieving all my backed up files yet again... very slowly.

Fortunately, I remembered I had shown off a few unreleased drawings to a friend recently, so I don't have to keep putting off that part of the blog posts! This one is of Theo and Siluca from the criminally underrated Record of Grancrest War. I had a plan for a set of pictures with lewd anime couples, but the ol' ADHD got a hold of me before I could get very far. I don't think the pose and anatomy really worked out, but I'd like to revisit the idea sometime--probably with it pulled it much closer.

Meanwhile, my Darkness drawing is nearing completion--I've just got a few more variants to make and then they can be exported. I really wanted to have it done by now, but apart from all the hard drive shenanigans, I've been very tired this past week for reasons I'll get into below. I'm going to take whatever time I can squeeze in to get it done, so please expect it later this week!

Last Saturday, I did a semi-impromptu live stream after floating the idea on the Discord (and if you didn't know about it, you should really get on there!) A few people got to see me work on Darkness and chat with my fiancΓ© about anime, and it was all pretty fun. I plan to do these more often--I don't know if I can make this Saturday, but make sure to expect it!

Now for the big thing, which I briefly mentioned on said stream: I'm moving back in with my parents. I'm currently still living in a student dorm, and I'm not supposed to have stayed here any longer than six months after graduation. However, the difficulty of finding space in this city compounded with all the corona trouble to make it impossible to find something decent. Although I was given an extension, the jig is finally up, and I have to leave.

Fortunately, my parents agreed to house me again for a while until I can move to the States and get married. Even more fortunately, they've agreed to let me try doing art full-time instead of finding another day job! I'm incredibly excited about the prospect, since all the plans I've been making can finally come to fruition without having another job to worry about.

The downside is that it all gets a little worse before it gets better. I've spent all week packing up and throwing out various belongings as well as disassembling furniture, most of which will have to be thrown away. This is the reason I've been too tired to get Darkness out the door and into ropes--but it's all for a good cause in the long run. Wish me luck! ^.^
