Small Update
Added 2025-06-26 05:45:44 +0000 UTCHello everyone,
Sorry for the radio silence, it's been up and down lately adjusting to the new medication which has significantly warped my sleep schedule even more than it used to be. Also I got into mahjong. My sleep has always been very unpredictable which is why I pushed so hard to do this for a living but now it's a lot worse for whatever reason. I'll go without sleeping for a day or two then sleep for 20 hours, or I'll be totally fine and wake up around noon no problem, it's very strange. Unfortunately my nightmares have gotten worse as well, which sucks, but oh well I am kind of used to that. I do think the sleep issues are improving though I haven't had a 20 hour sleepathon in awhile.
I took a short break early May to play through some new games and prepare for my GodotCon talk which went great, the vod for that should be up soon hopefully. I've been trying to take advantage of my many waking hours to conceptualize the best path forward for the topic of the next video, terrain generation. A very complicated topic, so the software design does unfortunately matter. In the process though I think I've come up with an ideal universal starting approach for people of all skill levels. To test it I'll be running another event like the shell texturing challenge I did awhile ago asking you all to implement and extend my starter terrain generator. I've had a lot of fun working through it all and I'm excited to add more to it later.
Anyways, thank you for your support as usual, the new video will be out soon.

Thanks for the update, and sorry to hear that you're struggling! I have dealt with sleep issues of my own, including chronic nightmares. My psych prescribed prazosin 2mg and taking that before bed helped a lot with my nightmares, might be worth looking into. It's a blood pressure med but is also used to treat nightmares somehow

2025-08-28 16:01:32 +0000 UTCI'm really looking forward to the new video but take all the time you need to recover, heal and find a new normal. I'm doing the same - I'm on medical leave from work due to issues with my sleep disorder. I'm taking a new med for it that seems to be working, but it has completely upended my usual routine and schedule. My heart goes out to you, and I hope you feel better soon.
