You hear stomping around in the distance. Your city shudders in fear. As the thundering steps come closer, the buildings around you start to tremble. The very ground below you shakes. Your entire community begins to panic. The giantess was coming right for us. We could feel her presence in the darkness, all around us. We knew that we could never make enough noise for her to hear us. We had nowhere to hide.

The mayor announces over a loud speaker, “Turn on the lights! Turn on all the lights. We can’t be blind to what is coming! If we try to outrun her, we will all die. Her footsteps are too large and she is too quick. If we turn on every light in town, we may stand a chance that the giantess will see us and have mercy, rather than step on us unintentionally and crush the entire city unknowingly.”

Everyone turns on their lights at once. You look up toward the sky. At first there is nothing to see but the tops of blades of crisp green grass in the night.....then you see it. Her beautiful foot, dirty from running in the woods, illuminated above you. She hesitates. Will she have mercy on your city? Or will she scoop you all up, buildings and all, and take you home with her?

You embrace your family in a warm hug, hold your breath, and wait.
