Ethical consumption of any kind is a privilege, and many people around the world rely on meat to survive. As a vegan, I see no dilemma with eating meat for survival, but I think it's hard to argue against striving for a future free of animal slaughter for pleasure. I think our most important battle as vegan activists on the left is not the intellectual discussion of animals being worthy of moral consideration, but in raising the working class out from under systems of reliance on human and animal exploitation.
